Flip-Flop Formal 2011

The social event of the year is finally here!
The San Diego Lion's
Flip Flop Formal
September 17th, 7pm-midnight

You are cordially invited to an evening of wine tasting with good food and great friends.

We will be offering the services of our own sommelier Matty, as he pours a wonderful selection of quality wines.  Listen as he explains the nuances between the different varietals.  Enjoy this with a wonderful assortment of imported cheeses, fruit, bread, cured meats, and chocolates to enhance your wine tasting experience.

Dress to impress, as this is your chance to dust off the fancy stuff for a change; dresses and suits with flip-flops.

We have invited Na Fianna (Ladies Gaelic Football Club) to join us for the evening.  This is a great opportunity to meet new people, and introduce the Lion's supporters.

Find a sitter for the kids, as this is an adult event.

Come join us at our new venue in the heart of Pacific Beach:
The Pacific Beach Women's Club
1721 Hornblend St. 92109
All this for only $40/person.  What a better way to spend a San Diego summer evening?  Don't miss out.  Space is limited.  Buy your tickets now via Paypal (or contact our Player-At-Large, Christian Maine).

Please RSVP on facebook, or email us.

San Diego Lions vs Orange County Bombers - August 27, 12pm (away)

San Diego Lion\ VS.

Bombers VS. Lions
Away Game in Irvine
Saturday, August 27th, 2011
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Lakeside Middle School (click for map)
3 Lemongrass
Irvine, CA 92604

The Lions will be lining up against arch rival OC Bombers for the second time this season, in what looks to be an important game for both teams leading up to Nationals in October: divisional status and seedings are certainly at stake. OC came away with the win last time in a tightly contested match that came down to the wire. However, the Lions have been gelling as a club and hitting their stride on the field, with a very close game against the LA Dragons on their home turf a few weeks ago, and a great showing against Riverside's young, inexperienced, yet tenacious side last weekend. Will the Lions and their "pride" rule the paddock, or will the Bombers reign down their fury with surgical strikes?

CARPOOL MEET-UP:
If you'd like to carpool, please meet up at the Sorrento Valley Park 'N Ride at 9am.
If you are running a bit late or plan just to drive up on your own and meet us there, please call Christian @ 858.652-9971 to let him know. He will be organizing carpools and ensuring that everyone is on their way.

If you ride with someone else, please be prepared to compensate with cash (min. $10 recommended).

If you are skipping the carpool meet-up, please just be sure to arrive no later than 11am, so that we can warm up properly as a team.

THURSDAY TRAINING (8/25) AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION!

This Thursday's training will be held at La Jolla Shores beach, at Coach Shaun's request.

MEET at the lifeguard station at 6pm. It is at the far north end of the main parking lot, in the corner of the grassy area.

BRING running shorts, a pair of old running shoes (they will get sandy), and also a towel and swim trunks. We will be wading in the cool water after the training to cool down and conteract the uildup of lactic acid.

SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! (not Saturday)

Just wanted to message to be sure everyone realizes this weekend's game against RFC is SUNDAY (not Saturday).

Game is at Doyle Park at 2pm sharp. Players please arrive no later than 1pm to prepare and go through our warm up.

ATTENTION LIONS PLAYERS: Two Important Things . . .

FIRST: Training
Please make an effort to make it to training this week. Numbers were low last Tuesday, and absolutely dismal on Thursday. With another big home game this weekend, it is important that we get as many numbers as we can out to train together this week and gel as a team.

SECOND: Team and USAFL Dues
If you have not already, it is very important that you pay your second half of the season dues ($50). You can pay via PayPal, which is accessible thru the "Payments" tab at www.sandiegolions.com. You can also deliver cash or check to Jimbo, or Jeffo.

Also, please pay your USAFL dues. Our game results--and qualification for Nationals--is not considered official until everyone who is planning to go to Nats has registered and paid their dues. This could affect our divisional standing and seeding at Nationals, which is coming up very soon! USAFL dues are currently $75, but will go up to $100 on September first. They will be even higher if you wait to pay until you get to the tournament.

Register and pay your nationals dues at this link.
